Welcome To Marwen Features Steve Carell & All The Feels

Hello nerds!

As is tradition, studios role out their more emotional movies around the holidays and Welcome to Maren is no exception. From the trailer, this film looks to tell quite an amazing story, with a great cast and some of the most impressive and wonderful looking CGI we've seen in recent years.

This film looks to tell quite an amazing story, that features a great cast and some of the most impressive and wonderful looking CGI we've seen in recent years. Tissues and popcorn at the ready.

Like I said, all the feels.

Written by Caroline Thompson (Nightmare Before Christmas, The Addams Family) and Robert Zemeckis, who is also directing, Welcome to Marwen stars Steve Carell as real-life assault survivor Mark Hogancamp. The film is based on Jeff Malmberg's documentary, Marwencol. The 2010 documentary shows how Hogancamp embraces his artistic side and builds miniature art displays as therapy, after he was attacked and left with severe brain damage. It's in these miniatures, that we see the wonder in this this sad and uplifting story.

Welcome to Marwen starring Steve Carell, Leslie Mann, Janelle Monáe, Eiza González, Diane Kruger, Gwendoline Christie and Falk Hentschel will be in theaters just in time for Thanksgiving with a November 21, 2018 release.

This holiday season, Academy Award® winner Robert Zemeckis—the groundbreaking filmmaker behind Forrest Gump, Flight and Cast Away—directs Steve Carell in the most original movie of the year. Welcome to Marwen tells the miraculous true story of one broken man’s fight as he discovers how artistic imagination can restore the human spirit.

When a devastating attack shatters Mark Hogancamp (Carell) and wipes away all memories, no one expected recovery. Putting together pieces from his old and new life, Mark meticulously creates a wondrous town where he can heal and be heroic. As he builds an astonishing art installation—a testament to the most powerful women he knows—through his fantasy world, he draws strength to triumph in the real one.
