The Crew's All Here In The New Trailer For The Many Saints of Newark

Hello nerds.

Warner Bros. has released an all-new trailer for The Many Saints of Newark, and for the first time in over a decade, fans will be returning to the world of The Soprano crime family. For those unfamiliar, this film serves as an origin story for New Jersey’s most notorious waste management consultant, Tony Soprano, and his intrepid crew.

In the movie, young Tony is played by Michael Gandolfini, the son of late Sopranos star James Gandolfini, who is widely regarded as a television icon thanks to his riveting work on The Sopranos. So, no pressure. However, in an effort to help Michael follow in his father’s footsteps, HBO has put together a cast and crew that are quite good. From the looks of everything, they seem to be laying some serious groundwork for the future (past) of The Sopranos.

The elements are there for this origin story of one of the most prolific television characters of all-time, Anthony Soprano Jr, to become the focus of a full fledged film franchise. There’s no doubt that if this movie is even mildly enjoyed by the show’s hardcore fanbase, we'll be seeing Tony’s ascent in the ranks over the course of a couple of more movies. The first of which, I’m guessing will be titled, The Many Saints of Newark 2: The Rise of Soprano.

Directed by Alan Taylor, and co-written by Sopranos creator David Chase and Lawrence Konner, The Many Saints of Newark starring Alessandro Nivola, Leslie Odom Jr., Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Michael Gandolfini, Billy Magnussen, Michela De Rossi, John Magaro, Ray Liotta and Vera Farmiga bada bings into theaters and on HBO Max on October 1, 2021.

Young Anthony Soprano is growing up in one of the most tumultuous eras in Newark’s history, becoming a man just as rival gangsters begin to rise up and challenge the all-powerful DiMeo crime family’s hold over the increasingly race-torn city. Caught up in the changing times is the uncle he idolizes, Dickie Moltisanti, who struggles to manage both his professional and personal responsibilities—and whose influence over his impressionable nephew will help make the teenager into the all-powerful mob boss we’ll later come to know: Tony Soprano.

We sat down and watched some stuff. And then talked about it.

The fifth season finale of Rick and Morty, a trio Thors in Love & Thunder, what to do if facing a zombified Hulk, a look at The Final Girls and the wildly terrible 13 Ghosts, and Glenn Danzig's latest movie might be too teeny to be a flop. Enjoy!
