Gunn, But Not Forgotten. Disney Re-Hires James Gunn To Direct Guardians Of The Galaxy 3

Hello nerds!

Never fear, for the fate of the MCU’s beloved Guardians of the Galaxy is back in the capable hands of the guy who brought them to the big screen.

According to Deadline, Disney has re-hired James Gunn to direct the last chapter in the Guardians trilogy. Apparently, Disney president Alan Horn, met Gunn s few times after he was fired to talk about the circumstances surrounding Gunn’s firing, his apology and handling of the situation. As a result, Horn made the call to bring the director back to make Guardians of the Galaxy 3. And since Gunn’s already got script done, it’s almost like he never really left at all. Which is great news considering how vital Gunn’s role was to future Marvel movies.

Before being shitcanned by the studio, Gunn was planning out the Cosmic MCU and GOTG3 was to be a big part of it. And considering how disastrous things could have turned out if Disney had managed to find a new director for GOTG 3, Gunn’s return is a welcome sight. Sadly though, it’s likely going to be some time before we actually see another installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy, as Gunn’s been keeping very busy.

Between his forthcoming Bizarro-Superman movie aka Brightburn, and DC hiring Gunn to reboot the Suicide Squad, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy won’t be having another solo outing for a couple of years. But still, at least the Guardians we know and love are back.
