Two Out Of Six Ain't Bad. Two Members Of The Sinister Six Join Spider-Man 2

Hello nerds!

Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 is going to stack the odds in the favor of the villains. What kind of a "Welcome back to existence" is that?

We've known for some time now Homecoming 2 would see Peter go global and it appears as at least two members of the original Sinister Six will be involved. "Fuck" and "yes" are the words that come to mind, but not so fast. They're likely not the two members you're expecting.

According to Variety, Adrian Toomes aka The Vulture, play brilliantly by Michael Keaton is set to return in Spider-Man: Homecoming 2, and he won't be alone. The report also confirms Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to bring to life perhaps one of the wall-crawler's most interesting villains, Quentin Beck; colloquially referred to as Mysterio.

For those unfamiliar, Quentin Beck (in the 616), was a special-FX wizard who first started his career in Hollywood as a stuntman, who can't catch his big break and become famous. Well, when a friend suggests the quickest way to become famous would be to take out a superhero, Beck puts his skills to the test and decides he's going to start with someone he felt he could easily take out due to his inexperience. Namely, Spider-Man. It's really not as stupid as it sounds. Actually, Mysterio is a vastly evil villain and true challenge to any hero.

For example, we turn to the the events of the amazing comic by Mark Millar, Old Man Logan. In the comic, after Wolverine goes nust and murders every fucking supervillain alive, and while the last man standing dies, the illusion disappears and it turns out that due to Mysterio, Wolverine slaughtered nearly every superhero on the planet. Nealry. Every. One. So, don't sleep on Mysterio. He will eff you up.

I always figured Mac Gargan's inclusion in Homecoming 1 meant The Scorpion would be back sooner rather than later, but I guess they have to save him for Homecoming 3 and use Homecoming 2 aka "Spider-Man: Year Abroad" as a way to intro some more members of the Sinister Six.

Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 crawls into theaters on July 5, 2019.
