Somebody order the fish? The Creature From The Black Lagoon lands a writer

Spooky greetings my nerds. Per a report from THR, Will Beall has been hired to pen the script for Universal Pictures' latest monster remake, The Creature From The Black Lagoon.

Universal seems to be going all-in on their reboots of their classic monster movies, as Creature From The Black Lagoon joins what's turning out to be an interesting slate of films when the reboot ball gets rolling this summer with the release of The Mummy. The Mummy stars Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella and from what we've seen it could be a fantastic start to the relaunch of the Classic Monster Universe.

Plus, throwing Academy Award-winners Javier Bardem and Russell Crowe into the mix doesn't hurt either. Bardem is set to play Frankenstein's monster and the Gladiator will be Dr. Henry Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. Also joining the Classic Monster Universe is two-time Razzie Award nominee and possible scumbag Johnny Depp as the Invisible Man. But wait, there's more. Films with the Wolf Man, Van Helsing and The Bride of Frankenstein are also in development. Damn. That's a gaggle of Monster movies.

What do you think? Is your optimism cautiously building? Are you going to head to the theaters when the Universal Monsters grace the silver screen yet again? Who would you like to see play the remaining monsters and monster hunter? So many Q's.
