Quoth The Raven “Yo Adrian!”. Sylvester Stallone Is Writing An Edgar Allan Poe Biopic

Hello nerds!

Once upon a time, action movie icon Sylvester Stallone, was writing a script for a movie based on the life of Edgar Allan Poe. Even moreso, Stallone also hoped to star as the poet in the film. Luckily for fans of 80s action movies and testosterone-fuelled melodrama, Stallone shifted his focus to a little film called, Rocky, and the cinematic world was all the better. As it so happens, Sly hasn’t abandoned the project.

In a recent post to his Instagram (yes, Stallone is on the gram), the man they sometimes call ”Rocky”, revealed he was very much still hard at work on his long-gestating passion project and promises to finish it; possibly with an eye to direct, as supposed to suiting up as the gothic poet.

“It’s a never-ending journey, and I would hate myself if I don’t continue it at least to the best of my ability and try to see it, actually, come to fruition,” Stallone vowed. “To be able to go out there and say, ‘I accomplished it. It may have taken 45 years/50 years, but it’s done.’ Anyway. That’s what I’m working on. It’s been one of the great challenges of my life.”

Fascinating.

I’m a huge fan of Sylvester Stallone’s, having seen nearly everything he’s been in, more than once. With that being said, I’m ridiculously curious to see what a pre-Rocky Stallone could have done playing someone like Poe. Say what you will about Sly’s acting, but the guy can bring it when needed and as a writer/ director, he’s a true heavyweight. So, I’m more than a little intrigued by whatever movie Stallone could produce about one of history’s’ most-prolific wordsmiths.

And besides, it’s not like he could have been any worse than John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe. Oh, you haven’t seen it? Don’t feel too bad, I might be the only one.
