Grindelwald Strikes Back In The SDCC Trailer For Fantastic Beasts 2

Hello nerds!

Our return to the Wizarding World is almost at hand, and this one could be pretty darn sweet. A new trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald starring Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Jude Law, Zoë Kravitz and Johnny Depp was revealed at the FB2 panel from this year's SDCC, and begrudgingly, I'll admit it looks pretty damn good.

The trailer takes us all over the wizarding world, where we'll see faces both new and old. And by old, I'm referring to the over 300 year old Nicolas Flamel. Yeah, the dude who created the for the Philosopher's Stone. Also, we'll go more in-depth into the burgeoning magical-smackdown between Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald, where Next Scamander and crew will play a pivotal role.

As an ardent fan of the Wizarding World, I find myself growing  terribly excited for this movie. While some Potter fans take issue with any material from that world that doesn't feature The Boy Who Lived, but so far the Fantastic Beasts trilogy has been pretty good so far. And from the looks of the trailer, even Johnny depp decided to show up. Finally.

Depp hasn't appeared to give a shit about a film he's "acted" in for quite some time, so a return to form for the man they once called "Sparrow" is far overdue. Whether it's the money pit he's trying to climb out of, or maybe whomever is reading his lines to him via an earpiece is a Harry Potter fan; whatever the reason, Depp seems to be on point for his role as the greatest dark wizard the world has known, outside of the He Who Must Not Be Named age.

It's a shame Grindelwald and Dumbledore won't be sharing any screen time in this one, but at least the third and final Fantastic Beasts movie is shaping up nicely. Especially since the movie is going to finally address a truly heartbreaking fact about the relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

In case you missed it, there's a shot of Jude Law as young Dumbledore, gazing into The Mirror of Erised, and staring back at him is none other than the face of one Gellert Grindelwald. For those unfamiliar or whom may not recall, The Mirror of Erised was featured in the Philosopher's Stone and this enchanted hunk of glass will show whomever gazes into it the object of their heart's deepest desire. For Albus Dumbledore, it's the one person he loves most, cannot be with and is one must confront for the good of the world. That is fucking great storytelling.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald apparates into theaters on November 16, 2018.

It's all about the good, the bad and the weird from this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The boys talk about the WB/DC films are finally taking a page out of the Marvel book and making some fun movies with Aquaman & SHAZAM, the new season of The Walking Dead is shaking things up with a few major deaths & "talking" zombies and The Crimes of Grindelwald could actually turn out to be a great movie. #InSpiteofJohnnyDepp
