First Official Image Of Shazam! Revealed. Still Padded, But That's OK

Hello nerds!

The time has come to slap eyes on the official first look at the titular hero for WB/DC's upcoming Shazam.

Courtesy of EW, we've got a look at Zachary Levi as the SHAZAM!'d version of Billy Batson having a soda with his buddy, Freddy Freeman, played by IT's Jack Dylan Grazer. Plus, we've got a more detailed plot synopsis.

Fans of the comic prepare to smile.

Thankfully, the suit was very comics accurate and still looks to be. Even if it is still padded, but that's OK. Sometimes people can't get as massive as the superheroes we read about in comics. Not everybody can be The Rock. Nobody wants to fart plain chicken, brown rice and broccoli for six months. Plus, Levi did put in that work at the gym and packed on some muscle. And as we discussed, the suit and Levi in it just about as off the freaking page as we've seen in the DCEU. Maybe David F. Sandberg is on to something.

From the sounds of it, Sandberg is a real fan of the comic book SHAZAM! look, and Levi does have a real "Golden Age" vibe to him. So, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I dig it and you know what, I think we all should. When you sit down and really take a good look at all of the elements going into this movie, it could be pretty great. In fact, SHAZAM!  is sort of looking like the DCEU's Ant-Man. A more family-friendly film for sure, but it'll have all the required superhero film elements. SHAZAM! could be just the thing the DCEU needs to help Wonder Woman carry the Prime Universe until they figure everything else the fuck out.

They've got things in the DC "Standalone" Universe look pretty good so far. Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good. Which is nice.

SHAZAM! is set to be released on April 5, 2019.
